Atlas Copco and ITT Corp. recently announced the formation of a worldwide strategic alliance to provide significant energy-saving solutions for municipal wastewater treatment plants.
Energy-efficient blowers from Atlas Copco's Oil-Free Air division will now be offered jointly with ITT aeration and mixer technologies, for a reduction in energy costs of an average of 40% in the secondary treatment phase.
The ITT Water & Wastewater business found that 55% of energy costs at treatment plants are incurred by aeration blowers, which led to the formation of a collaboration with a blower manufacturer that specified energy efficiency in its core design.
The joint initiative has already implemented its energy solutions in Europe and is now proceeding in North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
