September 20, 2006

Bei Xiaohe WWTP, located at Asia Games Village venue in the northern part of Beijing City, has a capacity of 40,000 m3 per day with a service population of 400,000 and a service area of 30 sq kilometers. According to the long-term plan, the plant will be expanded to 100,000 m3 per day. The plant was put into service since in 1990 and served the municipal wastewater and recreational water for the Beijing Asia Game in the same year.

The plant will be equipped with a membrane bioreactor (MBR) using Memcor ultrafiltration membranes, the most advanced MBR technology in the world from Siemens. Thus, the capacity will increase to 60,000 m3 per day, including 50,000 m3 municipal water and 10, 000 m3 recreational water for the Olympic Park at the end of 2007, to fully meet the requirements of increasing demands of water utilization. Also, the Siemens scope of delivery includes mechanism, electrical and automation systems, instruments and services.
